Elopement at Spicers Peak Lodge – 2019

Elopement at Spicers Peak Lodge

The drive to Spicers Peak Lodge takes you up a winding, narrow road, it’s mostly gravel and more often than not there will be cows and wallabies crossing your path. When you get to the top, you come out of the dense bush and it opens into expansive rolling hills, dotted with highlander cows and even more wallabies. Stepping out of the car is always a pleasant shock, it is at least 10 degrees cooler than in Brisbane, it’s only two hours drive away but it feels like another world. The air smells of woodfire and winter, transporting my mind to alpine regions.

If it’s solitude and peace you seek Spicers Peak Lodge is the perfect place to run away and elope with your lover. This is Cassie & Kyle’s intimate elopement, their parents joined them briefly for their ceremony then left them to enjoy their time alone together. Cassie told me they just wanted to keep it simple, they would stay the night then return home to their dog and gardening.
